Brain Chase: Old Man and Crow

Brain Chase is a precision platformer where you play as a determined old man on an unusual quest. When a mischievous crow steals his brain, the elderly hero must traverse the mysterious "Valley of Lost Thoughts" to reclaim what's rightfully his.

The demo captures the core gameplay experience, though some features are still being polished. Chapter 1 is fully playable and I'd love to hear your feedback as I continue development!

Master tight controls and overcome deadly obstacles in this retro-inspired adventure that combines nostalgic pixel art with modern precision platforming mechanics.

"You should've kept your brain in your skull"

But now it's gone. And so are your memories.

Geriatric Gymnastics

  • Master the ancient art of double jumping (your knees will never forgive you)
  • Question the physics of wall-jumping when you're clearly past retirement age
  • Navigate through spike-filled caverns and treacherous terrain (as if being old wasn't hard enough)

Existential Crisis Mode

  • Wonder how you're having coherent thoughts without a brain while robots lecture you about cognitive function
  • Meet colorful characters who may or may not exist - hard to tell when you're missing essential brain matter
  • Explore a world that makes no sense (though to be fair, neither did the world before the crow incident)

Surprisingly Helpful Robot Overlords

  • Don't be afraid to die - robot overlords have conveniently scattered checkpoints throughout your universe
  • Dying is not such a big deal when you respawn faster than it takes to remember where you left your dentures
  • Respawn and try again

The Great Brain Heist

  • Collect lost memory fragments scattered across the valley
  • Find letters from your old friends
  • Track down that thieving crow and have a serious conversation about personal property

Keyboard

  • Arrow keys - Shuffle left/right (surprisingly nimble for an old man)
  • Space bar - Jump and double jump (your knees hate you)
  • Wall grab - Cling to walls like a confused gecko
  • Ctrl - Dash like the wind (briefly)
  • E - Interact with things (grunting isn't enough)
  • X - Swing a sword (why would a normal person carry a sword?)
  • Z - Shoot projectiles (where are they even coming from?)
  • C - block (parry like you're still good at video games)
  • Escape - Pause to question your life choices

Controller

Can you reclaim your brain before your back gives out? There's only one way to find out!

I am playing this live tomorrow 8/29 around 5PM EST.

Amazing! I'll come check your stream. The demo is still a bit rough around the edges, but chapter 1 should be fully playable now.
